tradigiTOOLS v1.x will only support Maya 7 through 2009.  There will be no update for 2010.  We've already started working on a new version of tradigiTOOLS for future versions of Maya.  More on that in the future.

Cheers!

Not too much too mention now.  I'll try and list what we're trying to do...

  • We want to update many of the tools to be more streamlined and better
  • We want to improve the Curve Cleaner so it will be better
  • We want to change the shotmask to be more intuitive and robust (ie add watermarks and images, more counters for multiple characters and so on)
  • We want to add new tools like constraint tools (and maybe more)
  • We want to somehow make the UI more apart of Maya so users have the option to "dock" the tools

That's the simple version.   This will need to all be thought out and carefully planned.  One more important things is we will probably start supporting only the Maya versions that Autodesk supports.  So tradigiTOOLS v1.x will only be for Maya 7.x through Maya 2009 and tradigiTOOLS version 2.x will probably be for versions 2010 and 2011 (maybe for 2009).  We have to still explore our options.

OOps!  Also we want to build more GE tools too.  MAYBE!

Smiley Woo! these new additions to TDT sound great... especially improvements to the curve cleaner, constraint tools and docking. Also GE tools sounds super sweet too!

Sad to here that version 1 will not work on 2010 though as without version 2 I will be without TDT's assistance for the next while.

Is it to early to say when it will be out? and also will existing users be able to get some sort of discount 'upgrade'?  Wink

Thanks a lot Dimos for putting your time into this great suite of tools.

(p.s Any word on what happened to those instructional DVD's that were touted a while back?...I'm guessing life intervened ? Wink )

Life intervened indeed!   Grin

But we're actually still working on it so "slowly but surely".  We're just so heavily swamped on a lot of things for us here at FUNhouse as well other obligations.

Hang in there.  We'll do our best!

Cheers!

Well it sounds like it wont be ready anytime soon. Which is unfortunate cause shortly after purchasing this I upgraded to Maya 2010 and never got to really get into it. So my question is will the version 2 be a free upgrade or discounted for version 1 owners?

There should be some sort of discount for an upgrade but this will be a NEW version so there wont be anymore free updates for tradigiTOOLS version 1.x.  More news on that as we get closer to release.

Cheers!

I seriously hope you reconsider the decision not to build the Maya 2010 version of the current plugin.

It is nice to see that you have plans for the version 2 and I can't wait to see it but what if life intervenes again. It doesn't seem like the new version will be available anytime soon. Some of us are limited to working only with Maya 2010. I am sure recompiling the existing code with Maya 2010 libraries is a lot less work then developing a whole new version of the plugin. It doesn't even have to be officially supported if that is the problem, as long as that is clear from the get go. That could tie us over until version 2 is out.

In my opinion, the number one obstacle to plugin adoption is its future outlook. No one wants to build the pipeline on top of tools that may not be around tomorrow. Not providing support for Maya 2010 doesn't send the right message to the existing and prospective users.

Just trying to be helpful.

Oh yes!  I posted this on the tradigiTOOLS Facebook page but forgot to mention that here.  Thanks for the reminder.  ;-)

We will be upgrading the current version to support Maya 2010 shortly.  We'll announce the update when it arrives.

Sorry for not posting that here too.  My bad!
